Hike Summary
William Hill is part of the Rift Valley Escarpment which covers 37,620 Ha and has major attractions sites which include the Gatamaiyu river line walk, Ndiuni, Kijabe / Kiharu circuit, and Kereita forest and waterfall. The starting point of the hike is the old Italian Church, the smallest church in Kenya built-in 1942 by Italian Prisoners of war.
The trail follows a dirt road used by murram trucks before stopping at the Rare river for clean water refills and rest. The trail then goes up the hill past an old campsite to the summit. The ascent is steep but rewarding with sweeping views as far as Mt. Suswa, Longonot, and Hells Gate Fumaroles. The hike ends on the Maimahiu road or you descend back to the campsite where you pick your transport back to Nairobi
