Day 1: Che’s Bay
Leaving the city behind we drive west to the Great rift Valley passing the beautiful counties along the way. Our lunch stop will be at the great city of Kisumu. Our journey ends at a pleasant little known beach in Port Victoria, Che’s Bay our home for the night.
Day 2: Western Tour
Today we tour the attraction in the western circuit. The journey takes us through Mumias famous for Nabongo Mumia, Kakamega with the crying stones, Maragoli hills before winding up with lunch at Kisumu and a return back to camp. If you would prefer a chilled day, spend the day swimming and hiking around Che’s Bay.
Day 3: Sumba Island
On this day we start of the day with a hike to the surrounding viewpoints at Che’s Bay. Later in the day sail across to Sumba Island for the night on speedboat. The island is used to differentiate the border between Kenya and Uganda. We also get a chance to try our hand at fishing our dinner out of the lake on the boat ride to the island.
Day 4: Lake Kanyaboli, Siaya
In the morning we head back to Che’s Bay. After lunch we drive to Lake Kanyaboli at the heart of Siayakababa. This lake is an important reserve that forms part of Yala swamp and the mouth of Rivers Nzoia and Yala. It is the largest ox bow lake in Africa. Kayaking & water beds are some of the watersports that you can enjoy.
Day 5: Takawiri Island
On this day we drive down to Luanda K Otieno and cross with the ferry to Mbita. Sail out by speed boat to Takawiri Island. This is one of the gems of Southern Nyanza with a pristine sandy beach. In the evening we will have a New Year’s cross over party at the shores with a Dj on the House. It’s also full moon night on the Island.
Day 6: Rusinga Island
Today we leave Takawiri Island back to Rusinga to camp on the island at Victoria Sands Lodge. The waters of Mbita are blue and clean like the sea. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel and enjoying a swim in the pool. The sunsets from Mbita are amazing.
Day 7: Rusinga Island & Mbita
On this day explore Rusinga Island’s attractions. A historical trip down to Tom Mboya’s mausoleum is a great way to start the day. Later on enjoy the watersports at the lodge or head out to the beach in Mbita for a swim. Its the perfect day to rest after an eventful trip.
Day 8: Nairobi
Our trip ends today with great memories. We return to Nairobi via the scenic route through the tea farms of Nyamira, Bomet and the wheat fields of Narok to arrive in Nairobi early in the evening.
