Kenton & Kanugu Hills Hike

Available Dates: 15th August | 5th September

Grading: 25Km Tough Hike

10km Moderate Trail

A Scenic Hike on the Escarpment

Just over an hour from Nairobi is the Kikuyu Escarpment. On this sharp drop to the Rift Valley floor is a series of scenic trails. One of these has played host to the elevation themed trail run; the Escarpment madness Trail Run. This trail also hosts Boston Hill famous for pro athletes using it as a training ground for the hilly Boston Marathon race. Driving from Nairobi to the start point turn off at Flyover after Kobil to Run 2gether camp. The hike starts here by descending into the floor of the Rift Valley. The first hill Kenton presents the first formidable challenge. The climb up is steep with great views at the summit of Longongot. This same summit is used by paragliders who fly from there to the plains below. There are documented cases of someone who flew close to Narok from here. From here the trail descends via pyrethrum farms to the next hill the Kanugu hill. Branded this by Bucketlist because of its steep nature this one will make you enjoy the views of the bushland below before easing up to the final stretch through the farms.
