3Days Mt Kenya Chogoria

CROSSING MT. KENYA OFF YOUR BUCKET LIST
Day 1: Nairobi – Mintos Hut (4300mts)
Pick up from Nairobi. Drive to Chogoria park gate. Hike 9km to Lake Ellis. The trail then leads you up through glades of montane forest to Lake Michaelson. Take a few mins for photos and enjoy the scenic views. Then follow a track through giant heather to Mintos Hut 4300m, for dinner and overnight. Lunch is served on the way.
Day 2: Mintos – Lenana (4985mt)- Lake Ellis (3600mts)
Wake up very early in the morning and hike up through Square Tarn to climax at Pt. Lenana, 4985m which is the third highest peak on Mt. Kenya. After taking photographs, descend to Mintos for breakfast and continue down to Lake Ellis for dinner, bonfire party, and overnight rest.
Day 3: Lake Ellis – Nairobi
After morning breakfast. Descend to Chogoria park gate. Embark on your journey back to Nairobi to arrive in the early evening.
Due to the nature of the exercise, you need to prepare your body well. It is recommended you do daily cardio-based exercises before the hike. Pre hikes are organized every weekend and private on weekdays and it would be great to attend them. Contact the Bucketlist team for the calendar on this. We have prep hikes lined up every weekend for your support.
FOOD & SNACKS
Meals will be provided, as well as basic snacks like cookies, biscuits, and fruits. You should also bring your own energy snacks for the duration of the hike. Based on your preference, you can consider nuts, candy, energy bars, soda/beverage, Energy Sachets, Apples, and fruits. Main meals are prepared and served at camp. They include common starch, vegetables, soup, and meat. Any special dietary requirements such as diabetic, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, non-beef must be communicated in advance.
