Wild Coast to Garden Route Odyssey (ZA)
Date: 26th August – 5th September 2022
The wild coast of South Africa presents one of the most adventurous coastal Terrain to visit. On the other hand, the Garden route is rated as among the most scenic drives in the world. This tour will take you by road from Durban South Africa to the mother capital, Cape Town on the sidelines of the Comrades Marathon, the greatest human race on earth.
Expedition Itinerary Summary
26th August: Fly to Durban, Zulu Land
Our trip starts with a flight to Johannesburg followed by a connecting local flight to King Shaka International Airport, the capital of Zulu Land. The excitement and mood of the Comrades Marathon will welcome you to Durban at this exciting time. Transfer to our Durban Stay for the night. Overnight stay at the Pavilion Hotel, Durban.
27th August: Durban Adventure Day/Comrades Travel to Pietermaritzburg
On this day explore the City of Durban. From uShaka Marine World, Moses Mabhida Stadium Swing, Durban point sightseeing and many more exciting activities to choose from. For the Comrades Athletes, take the bus to Pietermaritzburg the start of your down run.
28th August: Comrades Marathon, Greatest Human Race /Durban Explore
Be part of the spirit of the comrade’s marathon by either participating in the down run or heading out to cheer the finishing comrades. It’s magical to see the excitement at the finish line.

29th August: Durban to Oribi Gorge to Port St. John
On this day we leave Durban and follow the coastline to the famous Wild Coast of South Africa. Today we pass via Oribi Gorge for some incredible views and adrenaline activities (Gorge Swing, Zip Line, Suspension Bridge). Other stops on the way include Port Shepstone, The Red Desert at Port Edward, Magwa falls and stopping at Port St. John for the Night

30th August: Port St. John to Coffee Bay to Chintsa
On this day we drive south to Umtata the capital of the former homeland. A visit to the Nelson Mandela Museum will be amazing. We will get to Visit Coffee Bay’s famous Hole in the wall. We will have a second stop at Mazeppa bay for a brief tour. Our trip will go over a few scenic passes, as well as the Great Kei Bridge. Our journey ends at the beautiful Chintsa Bay. An evening stroll around the beach and a visit of the legendary organic brewery, Emerald Vale will be a great way to end a busy way.

31st August: Chintsa to East London to Port Elizabeth
The final tour of the Wild Coast takes us to the capital of the Sunshine Coast – East London. If you’re into art, culture and architecture, we will visit Fort Glamorgan which was erected on the
banks of the Buffalo River in 1848 to guard the supply line to King Williams Town. We can also
explore the Xhosa culture and cuisine at Khaya la Bantu Cultural Village. The 19m tall Hood Point
Lighthouse is also a point of interest. We then drive down to Port Elizabeth, the start of our
Garden Route Tour.

1st September: Port Elizabeth – Tshitshikama National Park – Kynsa – Sedgefield
We leave Port Elizabeth commonly known as the Friendly City via the Paul Sauer bridge across the valley 139m above the river. Our first stop will be Tsitsikama National Park characterized by a long-rugged coastline with indigenous forests and rivers. We will do a walk to the Suspension bridge spanning over Storms River. We will then proceed to the 216m Bloukrans Bridge Bungee, the highest natural commercial bungee in the world.
We will then pass by Birds of Eden a unique two-hectare down that houses over 3500 African birds. We finally make our way down to Kynsa’s lagoon edge guarded by two large promontories famously christened Kynsa heads. Our final destination of the night is at Sedge field, a beautiful tranquil small town.

2nd September: Sedge field to Oudtshoorn to Cape Agulhas
Leaving the coast behind we join the famous route 62 to Oudtshoorn. We will tour Cango Caves, an amazing group of wondrous calcite caves. A tour of the Cango Wildlife ranch will get you up close with animals and dare Crocodile cage Diving. We then drive down to the Southernmost Tip of Africa and the official meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean.

3rd September: Cape Agulhas to Stellenbosch to Cape Town
On this day we drive to Stellenbosch the wine capital of South Africa. We spend the day sampling a few wine houses before driving down to Mother City, Cape Town.

4th September: Table Mountain \ Cape of Good Hope
A tour down from Cape Town to this Scenic promenade plus Table Mountain hike and cable car.
Later in the day spend the day touring various attractions in Cape Town.
5th September: Fly Out / Optional Extension
Fly out on this day to Nairobi or spend an extra day exploring Cape Town.
